Connecting the Dots: Poverty, Racism and Drones
A talk by Cornel West
Dr. West will speak to the relationship between poverty and racism at home, and unending wars abroad. Dr. Cornel West is an engaging speaker and a charismatic individual. He has been called a prominent, provocative, populist intellectual. What is a populist Intellectual? Well perhaps a man who has deep understanding and the ability to communicate with a broad audience. Dr West is a Professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. He has a long list of academic credentials, and yet spends much of his time communicating with ordinary people to provide a connection between understanding complex social problems and the becoming empowered in our own lives.
Following Dr. West's talk, we will gather for a permitted rally at near Hancock Air National Guard Base at 4:30 and a short walk to deliver People's Orders of Protection against Drone Terrorism to the base.

For the past ten years, the Metro Justice Annual Dinner has become a community event that no one wants to miss. Each year, we celebrate our victories and enjoy the company of our members, friends, and allies—we want you to join us at the table.
Our Annual Dinner is the biggest fundraising event of the year. We want you to fuel our progress in 2014 and support our Dinner. This support keeps us a strong voice within the community, enabling us to take a stand for Economic Justice. As a member-driven organization, you allow us to stay independent of major foundations and remain uncompromising community activists.
We are excited to invite you to our Metro Justice Annual Dinner at Temple B’rith Kodesh on May 4th, 2014 at 6:00pm.
This year, we will feature roasted vegetables and artichokes over penne noodles with wine sauce by Susan Plunkett’s Fabulous Foods as our entree.
For over forty-nine years, Metro Justice has remained a strong voice in the community due to member support. I hope you can join us at the Dinner and celebrate our victories. If you’re willing to volunteer at the Dinner or donate an appetizer/beverage, please indicate that on the ticket order form and a committee member will contact you. The deadline for ticket orders through the mail is April 29th.
